MOISTURE RETURNS

Posted: Updated:

After a fine weather pattern for the early and middle part of the week, the moisture returned Thursday and brought clouds, fog, and some light rain to the area.

Morning lows were in the 40s and the 50s. Esler Airport cratered to 43 degrees while Winnfield and Jonesville had 44. Bentley was the warm spot with a low of only 57 degrees. Opelousas and Colfax followed closely with 56 degrees. The long-term daily average is 44 and the record is 27 in 2006.

Afternoon highs were able to climb into the 70s despite a mostly cloudy sky. DeRidder hit 77 degrees while Winnfield and Natchez, Miss. reported 70. The 30-year daily average is 67 and the record is 84 in 2007.

Patchy light rain fell across portions of central Louisiana but amounts were meager. Hagewood measured 0.04 inches and Natchitoches saw 0.03 inches.

A cold front will move through central Louisiana Friday evening. Rain and a few thunderstorms should accompany the front. A distinct change to colder weather will be felt by Saturday.
