RPSO: Arrests made in vehicle burglaries

Posted: Updated:

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office made three arrests in connection to vehicle burglaries.

Starting in August 2013, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office began responding to vehicle burglaries throughout the parish.  According to RPSO, on November 4, several vehicle burglaries occurred on Evanshell Drive. During the investigation, detectives said they were able to develop information as to who the suspects were which led to the arrest of three individuals.

Billy Evans, Summer Extine and Brandon Morvant, all from Alexandria, were arrested. RPSO said the subjects were entering vehicles throughout the parish and took several items from the vehicles including cash, credit cards, firearms and electronic devices. RPSO said a lot of the vehicles were left unlocked, and the suspects would see the vehicle was unlocked and take what was in them. Detectives were able to recover and return several of the items stolen during the burglaries.

"We encourage the public to lock their vehicles and take items out of their vehicles that pose a crime of opportunity to these types of criminals," said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.
