A moderately strong surface high over the northern plains is helping to steer some cold air down our way. We also have a plume of moisture in the gulf, so it feels a little more like Seattle than Alexandria outside; cold and wet. We will get a break from the rain tomorrow and perhaps the sun may even peek in a bit, however the cool temperature trend will stay with us and expect some rainy conditions Monday and into Tuesday as the moisture from the gulf heads our way.
It is cold, but snow is likely out of the question, however sleet is a real possibility. Currently there is a fairly decent layer of warm air above us, which should keep any precipitation as rain. However, with the potentially heavy rain expected Monday and Tuesday along with the cool temperatures, sleet is a real possibility. Depending on how robust this warm layer is, we may or may not see sleet. This sleet would likely fall in the early morning hours.
Overall, prepare for some wet and chilly conditions for the next few days. As the rain fades, we will still keep the chill in the air toward the end of the week. Thanksgiving looks to be pleasant for us, albeit cold.
