APD: Alexandria man arrested for aggravated assault

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Alexandria Police Department makes aggravated assault arrest.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, on November 30, 2013, Police arrested William Stanley Jr., 60, of Alexandria and charged him with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a Police Officer, and disturbing the peace by intoxication.

According to APD, Officers were dispatched to the Quickway Exxon located in the 1700 Block of Jackson Street in reference to a disturbance involving a knife. Officers were given a description of the suspect, later identified as Stanley, who was located leaving the property by arriving Officers.

APD said Stanley was ordered to drop his knife by the Officer but refused, walking towards the officer in a threatening manner. Stanley then complied with the Officer's commands and was taken into custody without further incident.

APD said Stanley was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking. According to APD, the incident is still under investigation and no other details are available for release at this time.
