RPSO: Additional arrest made in fuel theft

Posted: Updated:

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office makes another arrest in ongoing fuel theft investigation.

According to the Rapide's Parish Sheriff's Office, the investigation into previous fuel theft has continued, and another suspect has been arrested. RPSO said on November 25, Matthew Thomas Curd of Alexandria, La. turned himself into Detectives, and he was arrested and charged with one count of Theft of Motor Vehicle Fuel over $500 and one count of Criminal Trespassing.

RPSO said on October 30, Deputies assigned to the England Airpark responded to a call in reference to Theft of Motor Vehicle Fuel. Upon contact with the complainant, it was determined approximately 500 gallons of motor vehicle fuel was stolen from a fuel tank on Perimeter Road.  This fuel tank was owned by some contractors doing work at the airpark. RPSO Detectives were assigned the case and started their investigation. Through their investigation, Detectives said they developed suspect information which they passed on to the Patrol Division. According to RPSO, on November 13, Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was of interest for a traffic violation. RPSO said Detectives working the case responded and interviewed the subject which lead to other suspects in the case.

Detectives say the investigation is continuing and still more arrests may be made.
