Natchitoches man arrested in burglary investigation

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies make arrest in burglary incident.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man in connection with a residential burglary according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.

According to NPSO, on December 3, at approximately 4 p.m., deputies responded to a reported residential burglary in the 100 block of Gabrielle Loop, just south of Natchitoches, La. NPSO said while talking to the complainant, deputies learned that forced entry had been gained through a side door, and a jar containing approximately $34 dollars in US change was taken in the burglary. NPSO Detectives also responded to the scene.

NPSO said detectives photographed the scene and collected physical evidence that led them to a "person of interest" in the case that lived nearby.

NPSO said during the investigation, detectives interviewed the suspect in the 100 block of Gabrielle Loop, establishing sufficient evidence and probable cause to make an arrest in the investigation.

According to NPSO, as a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Devon Ray Johnson, 19 of the 100 block of Gabrielle Loop, Natchitoches, La. NPSO said Johnson was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with one count of Simple Burglary, one count of Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and one count of Probation Violation.

NPSO said Johnson is on probation due to a prior robbery conviction, and he confessed to the burglary stating that he spent the money that was taken.

NPSO said Deputy Jared Whitlock,  Deputy Jared Kilpatrick, Deputy Ernest Sowell assisted by Detective Brian Turner and Detective Derrick Sowell were involved in the investigation and arrests.
