RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) A Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office investigation of battery on a juvenile leads to four arrests.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, on December 1, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., Deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to a possible battery that had been committed on a juvenile.

RPSO said upon arrival at the hospital, Deputies made contact  with a case worker from the Department of Children and Family Services. The case worker reported the subject, later identified as Amber Boudreaux, entered the ER with her 14-month-old child who had a severe eye injury.

Deputies observed Boudreaux had injuries to her face and forehead as well. RPSO said Boudreaux first alleged that she had fallen causing her to drop the baby. Deputies said Boudreaux later alleged that during a dispute with her fiancé, Bruce Soileau, he struck her in the face while she was holding the child.

After responding to the residence on Esler Field Rd. where the battery occurred, Deputies located Soileau, and he alleged that Boudreaux had tripped over a dresser and dropped their baby. RPSO said during the interview with Soileau, deputies observed several pieces of drug paraphernalia in plain view.

According to Deputies, Sydnee Ratcliff and Joshua Ledet were located at the residence along with two small children in a bedroom with marijuana as well as several marijuana smoking pipes. Deputies said methamphetamine residue was also located in some baggies on a dresser. According to RPSO, Patrol Supervisors said the living conditions in the residence were some of the worst they had ever seen. Soileau, Ledet and Ratcliff were placed under arrest.

The DCFS case worker responded to the residence to follow up investigation into the living conditions of the children. RPSO said the children were later released to the custody of DCFS pending further investigation. Deputies said Soileau, Ledet and Ratcliff admitted to smoking narcotics in the residence with the children present. According to RPSO, Soileau, Ledet and Ratcliff were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where they were booked on various charges. Boudreaux was also arrested and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked on various charges. Soileau remains in jail on a $20,750.00 bond.
