The new week began today cold and wet-a pattern that blew in with last Thursday's strong cold front.
High temperatures for the day actually occurred during the morning as colder air once again filtered into the area and checked the normal temperature rise by Noon. Readings in Winn Parish never made 40 degrees, with Winnfield and Atlanta reporting 39 and 38 degrees, respectively. Readings made the middle 40s across southern parishes. By evening, manytemperatures were already in the mid to upper 30s.
Rain again visited central Louisiana Sunday and Monday. In fact, heavy rain was noted across portions of Allen, Evangeline, St. Landry, and Avoyelles Parishes. Opelousas measured 2.89 inches for the two-day period while Simmesport reporting 2.52 inches.
The weather pattern should improve Tuesday as drier air moves in behind the front.
