Finally, the Sun returned today after 4-6 days of cloudy skies and intermittent precipitation.
The day began with temperatures in the 30s. Winnfield bottomed out at 30 degrees for the lowest reading. Jena and Natchez, MS also saw a light freeae at 32 degrees. DeRidder and Esler Airport were the warm spots with a low of 36. The 30-year daily average is 41 and the record is 20 in 1917.
Despite sunshine, afternoon highs remained well below average for early December. Several locations stayed in the middle 40s, including Winnfield, Pitkin, and Jonesville. Esler Airport managed to hit 50 degrees.
Chilly air continues to reside in central Louisiana and temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 20s to the lower 30s.
