CenLa residents headed out to work and school this morning and had to brave a chill and a heavy frost. Some of my weather watchers said it looked like it had snowed overnight. Morning lows ranged from 25 at Natchez, MS to 32 at Ville Platte, Simmesport, and the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria. The daily average is 41 and the record is 20 in 1898.
Clouds rolled in and checked the afternoon temperature rise across the southern parishes. For example, Ville Platte and Opelousas only reached 47 degrees while Natchitoches hit 56 and Many reported 55. The daily average is 61 and the record is 82 set in the "heat wave" of 2007.
