It was a crisp early winter day in central Louisiana.
It was yet another cold start this morning with Winnfield and Bellwood dropping to 27 degrees. Colfax, Jena, and Fairfield reported 29 degrees. Ville Platte, Opelousas, and Oakdale stayed up at 34 degrees. The daily average is 41 and the record is 16 set in 1962.
Ample sunshine brought afternoon highs into the 50s. Montgomery and Bellwood hit 56 degrees while several locations, including Marksville, Anacoco, Ville Platte, and Opelousas. The daily average is 61 and the record is 83 in 2007.
The weather pattern changes Friday as clouds increase and rain chances begin in western parishes by the afternoon. The rain will spread over the entire area Friday night and continue off and on into Saturday.
