The new work and school week weather began on a positive note as plenty of sunshine erased a morning chill.
Morning lows dropped into the upper 20s and the lower 30s across the area. Weather watchers noted a heavy frost at many locations. The thermometer at Natchez, MS fell all the way down to 25 degrees. Jena, Leesville, and Winnfield recorded 27 degrees. Marksville and the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria reported 31 degrees. The daily average is 40 and the record is 17 set in 1943.
Full time sunshine brought afternoon max temps into the upper 50s to the middle 60s. Marksville only reached 58 degrees while Bellwood hit 65 and Natchitoches hit 64. The long-term daily average is 60 and the record is 82 in 1924.
Little change is expected Tuesday.
