Freshening southerly breezes are bringing spring back to central Louisiana after a two-week spell of below normal temperatures.
Morning lows ranged from the upper 30s to the upper 40s. Winnfield, Oakdale, and Esler Airport saw their thermometers drop into the upper 30s while Marksville and Simmesport stayed in the upper 40s. The daily average is 40 degrees and the record is 18 set in 1975.
Despite a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy sky, afternoon temperatures were ble to rise into the lower to middle 70s. Simmesport and Esler Airport were the warmest locations with 75 degrees while Pitkin only managed 70 degrees. The daily average is 60 and the record is 79 in 1978.
Rain chances will increase Friday as the moisture deepens; however, the main event is still on schedule for Saturday and Saturday night.
