Shop with a Cop

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - The Alexandria City Marshal's Office held its annual Shop with a Cop program.

The program is designed to help make it a happy holiday season for all.

"It is my favorite time of the year. I like Christmas," said Kevin Reed.

Thanks to the Alexandria City Marshal's office the Christmas season will be a merry one for some Cenla families.

"To have the city of Alexandria help us out this Christmas is a joy to be able to have some help this year. We're thankful and blessed for that," said Debra Reed.

The Shop with a Cop program helps those who need assistance, complete their holiday shopping lists.

"We are blessed enough to be in a position to help. We really enjoy it, and the look on the kids face whenever they finish is always positive and we do know they appreciate it," said Terence Grimes.

The program also provides the kids a positive experience with law enforcement officers.

"In the future whenever they need the police, whenever they call then they have already established a rapport with them. It is something that may make a difference in their future," said Grimes.

The Shop with a Cop program is now in its 17th year.
