After Christmas shopping

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - You might think that after Christmas, the shopping would go down a little bit.

Even though Santa has put up his sleigh for the year, many Cenla shoppers are still shopping.

For some after Christmas shoppers they like to use this day to get ready for next Christmas.

"You save a lot of money by going after Christmas because you can buy and be prepared for the next year.  You are not in a mad rush trying to buy the little things you know right there at Christmas," said Stephanie Lacombe, who was out shopping.

So whether it is next year's gifts or decorations, being as early as possible is the key.

"We try to go the day after Christmas to get a good selection on the decorations. If we wait too long the better items are gone," said Cindy Scarber.

And with after Christmas sales can help you keep some of that money in your pocket.

"To me it is. It is helpful money wise, and in time wise later," said shopper Nellie White.

But it's not only early shoppers and savers hitting the mall. There's also people using the day to return those gifts that weren't quite right.

Well, one of the things that we have returns for when we do is either the wrong size, the wrong color. Maybe it was not quite what they wanted for the holidays so they are looking to get the item that they actually chose," said Kathie Choate, a JC Penney employee.
