NPSO: man arrested for store vandalism

Posted: Updated:

GOLDONNA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a Goldonna man in connection with the vandalism of the Country Folks Country Store.

According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, the vandalism happened in May 2013.

Detectives arrested Thomas T. Burnette III, 19 of the 100 block of Gates Road, Goldonna, La., booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-count of Felony Criminal Damage to Property in Natchitoches Parish, 1-count of Simple Burglary in Winn Parish, 2-counts of Felony Theft in Winn Parish, 2-counts of Criminal Trespassing in Winn Parish, and 1-count of Probation Violation in Richland Parish.

On Thursday May 10th, 2013, NPSO Deputies responded to a reported Damage to Property call at the Country Folks Country Store located in the 600 block of La. Hwy 156 in Goldonna, La.

During the investigation, deputies learned that a vehicle intentionally drove into the building, causing approximately $10,000 dollars in damage, leaving the scene, without reporting the incident.

Detectives believe the incident occurred during the night of May 9th, between the hours of 11:00pm and 5:00am.

During May of 2013, detectives interviewed several subjects in connection with the investigation.

During those interviews, detectives developed sufficient evidence and probable cause to obtain criminal warrants through the 10th Judicial District Court on a suspect.

After an arrest warrant was secured, deputies checked the Goldonna area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Detectives continued the search for months, resulting in the suspect being placed in the National Crime Information Center as a wanted person.

On December 23rd, NPSO Detectives along with the assistance of Natchitoches Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents received reliable information that the suspect was hiding at a residence in the Goldonna area.

Detectives went to the residence located in the 100 block of Gates Road, Goldonna, La., arresting the suspect while hiding under a bed.

Detectives also learned that the suspect was wanted for burglaries, and thefts in the Winn and Richland Parish areas.

Burnette remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
