APD: man charged with carjacking

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – An Alexandria man has been charged with carjacking.

Michael Hargrove 32, of Alexandria was charged with carjacking, flight from an officer, resisting an officer and possession of CDS II (Meth).

According Alexandria Police, on December 26, officers were dispatched to 1700 Jackson Street. The victim advised that he and Michael Hargrove were riding around town going from club to club. When they pulled up to a club on Rapides Avenue, Hargrove pulled out a handgun and ordered the victim out the car. Hargrove then drove off in the victim's vehicle.

APD says the officers located the vehicle and after a brief chase Hargrove was arrested. The arresting officer observed Hargrove chewing on something and got him to spit it out. Hargrove was chewing on six bags of Meth in an attempt to destroy the evidence.

This case is still under investigation.
