The mostly cloudy skies will stay with us and a slight chance of rain will last through the weekend. Most of the rain is expected to be toward the east; likely from Marksville to Jonesville, along the Mississippi river. An upper level trough pattern will be making its way through the area, along with an approaching cold front. These rain chances will stay with us until Monday, when are expected to cool down again. There is also a very dry layer of air above us currently. This has been evaporating some of the rain before it reaches the ground. This is called virga and we did see a few instances here this evening. There was some light green over downtown Alexandria but the sidewalks were dry as bones. As far as New Years Eve, if you have outdoor plans, it looks pleasant so far! Just cold!
