Two killed and one injured in Avoyelles crash

Avoyelles Parish, La. (KALB News Channel 5) A single vehicle crash killed two men from Bunkie and moderately injured a woman on January 1. 

Both men were not wearing a seatbelt and were ejected during the crash.  The woman was wearing a seatbelt. 

Troopers responded to the crash around 10:15 p.m.

According to LSP, it happened on LA Hwy 29 south of Bunkie. 

The crash involved a 2002 Dodge pickup, driven by Marvin B. Overbey, 42.  The Dodge was southbound on LA Hwy 29 when Overbey lost control and exited the right side of the roadway.  After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a utility pole and began overturning. 

Overbey was pronounced dead.  He had two passengers in his vehicle, at the time of the crash, identified as Vickie M. Kelone, 55, of Bunkie, and Gary W. Ogea, 50. 

Kelone was transported to Bunkie General Hospital for treatment.  Ogea was pronounced dead.

Alcohol usage is a suspected factor.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.  The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated one fatal crash in 2014, resulting in two fatalities.
