Goldonna Police Chief arrested

Natchitoches, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Natchitoches Detectives arrest Goldonna Police Chief in criminal investigation.

According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr., on Jan. 3, 2014, NPSO Detectives arrested Goldonna Police Chief Johnny Earl Rowell in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.

Jones said Johnny Earl Rowell, 63, was arrested Friday morning with the assistance of the Natchitoches Parish District Attorney's Office, after he reported to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division. Rowell was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, and he was charged with one count of Malfeasance in Office and one count of Accessory after the Fact.

Chief of Investigations Detective Greg Dunn said the arrest is the result of an ongoing criminal probe and investigation involving a relative of Chief Rowell. Natchitoches Parish Assistant District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington assisted Detective Tim Key in the investigation.

Detectives said no further details are being released at this time.
