LC men's basketball suffers first ASC loss of the season

RICHARDSON, TX. (KALB News Channel 5) - Louisiana College men's basketball suffers first ASC loss of the season at UT-Dallas.

Four UT-Dallas players scored in double figures, including a triple-double from All-American forward Kyle Schleigh, as the Comets handed the Louisiana College men's basketball team their first American Southwest Conference loss of the season by a final score of 80-61.

The Wildcats struggled shooting the ball all night, finishing just 22-72 from the field (30.6%) and 12-13 from the free throw line (52.2%) despite a solid defensive effort that saw LC come up with 14 steals.

Schleigh, the preseason ASC Player of the Year, finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists while Matthew Medell had a game-high 20 points for the Comets. Dmitriy Chernlkov (16 points) and Chris McOmber (11 points, 12 rebounds) joined them in double figures.

Sophomore guard Kevin Lewis led LC in scoring with 13 points while sophomore forward Anthony Gaines, Jr. (10 points, six rebunds, three steals) and freshman reserve guard Steve Evans (10 points, seven rebounds) joined Lewis in double figures.

The Wildcats (4-3 overall, 4-1 in ASC) will hit the road this Saturday against Hardin-Simmons in a game that is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
