CHILLY END TO THE WEEK

The first Friday of 2014 ended with mostly sunny skies and a chill lingering in the air.

It was another cold start as morning lows ranged through the 20s at most locations. Winnfield, Peason, Leesville, Fairfield, Bellwood, and Atlanta all reported 24 degrees. On the other side of the thermometer, Marksville, Pine Prairie, and the D. G. Hunter Power Plant reported 30 degrees. The long-term daily average is 39 and the record is 12 set in 1979.

Ample sunshine brought afternoon high temperatures into the 40s for the most part; however, Bellwood hit 51 degrees and Many reported 50. Natchez, Miss. only made it up to 43 degrees. The long-term daily average is 59 and the record is 80 in 1982.

Clouds will increase Saturday and temperatures will return to seasonal levels.
