NPSO: Deputies make arrest in connection with business burglary

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Robeline man arrested in connection with Pecan House burglary.

According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr., NPSO Deputies arrested a Robeline man on Jan. 2, after responding to a reported business burglary near Bermuda, La. Deputies said they learned that approximately 300 lbs. of pecans, valued around $600, were taken while an employee was absent from work for a couple days.

Deputies went to Robeline and searched a residence where the employee was believed to live. According to NPSO, Deputies discovered the stolen pecans in room, and Nelson admitted to the burglary. Jerry Wayne Nelson, 43, was arrested and charged with one count of Simple Burglary, one count of Organized Retail Theft, one count of Criminal Trespassing and one count of Simple Criminal Damage to Property.

NPSO said Nelson has prior felony convictions, and he remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.
