RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office arrest woman on felony charges after her son's armed robbery arrest.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, a Glenmora woman has been arrested for two counts of Obstruction of Justice, after her son's arrest in Sept. 2013. Zavier Sumbler was arrested for armed robbery, and he is currently being held in the Rapides Parish Detention Center awaiting trial with a $75,000 bond. RPSO said Detectives learned his mother Glenda Faye Sumbler, 53, contacted witnesses in an attempt to have them recant their statements.

Detectives contacted Ms. Sumbler and warned her to stop contacting witnesses, however, Ms. Sumbler continued talking to witnesses. RPSO said on Dec. 23, Ms. Sumbler demanded a meeting with a supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division regarding Zavier Sumbler's armed robbery arrest. Detectives said Ms. Sumbler brought a witness with her to the meeting, and after the meeting, they became aware of other criminal activities she had committed.

Ms. Sumbler was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Detectives said Obstruction of Justice is a felony, and additional arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
