APD: Police make narcotics arrest

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Alexandria Police make drug arrest during investigation for another wanted subject. 

On Jan. 8, 2014, Alexandria Police arrested Joseph Mathews, 30, of Alexandria and charged him with one count Possession of Marijuana, one count Possession of CDS Sch III Drug and one count Possession of CDS Sch IV Drug.

APD said officers were conducting an investigation at a residence located on Eastwood Ave. Officers were checking for a wanted subject believed to be at this location. Officers said during a search of the residence, suspected marijuana and prescription narcotics were located and found in Mathews' possession.

APD said Mathews was placed under arrest and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for Booking. The wanted subject was not located. This incident is still under investigation and no other details are available for release at this time.
