The long-awaited warming trend came to central Louisiana today.
Morning lows ranged from the upper 30s to the lower 40s. Atlanta was the cool spot with a low of 37 degrees. Winnfield, Williana, and Gum Springs reported 38. Many was the warm spot with a low of 43. The 30-year daily average is 39 and the record is 16 in 2010.
Afternoon max temps reflected the position of a warm front. Simmesport hit 70 degrees while Opelousas and Oakdale hit 69. In contrast, Winnfield, Gum Springs, Atlanta, Montgomery, Many, Hagewood and Natchitoches stayed in the 50s. The 30-year daily average is 59 and the record is 80 in 1957.
A few light showers and sprinkles occurred but amounts were meager. The amount of rain will increase Friday and Friday night with a cold front.
