Natchitoches Police looking for suspect in shooting

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Natchitoches man wanted for attempted murder.

The Natchitoches Police Department Detective Division is currently looking for a suspect in a shooting that happened on January 8, 2014.

The police department said a call was received a shooting that had occurred at the University Terrace Apartments on Fairgrounds Rd. Officers arrived at the scene and located the victim, Donald Braxton. Police said Braxton suffered from a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.

After an initial investigation, detectives learned Brandon Jackson, 24, of Natchitoches was the suspect in the shooting. According to victims and witnesses, the shooting took place on the front porch of the apartment after an argument when Jackson came to see Braxton about some movies. Jackson allegedly shot Braxton once and then fled.

Police said Braxton was transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center where he was treated and then transported to University Hospital in Shreveport with injuries that were determined as not life-threatening.  Police said Jackson is considered armed, dangerous and is wanted on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
