RAIN RETURNS TODAY

Posted: Updated:

A warmer weather pattern is here so rain has returned to central Louisiana.

Morning lows were in the 40s and 50s. Oakdale dropped all the way down to 43 degrees. It was also chilly in Jena and Winnfield with lows of 46. Readings stayed in the middle 50s over the western portion of the viewing area. Many reported 55 degrees and Anacoco 54. The long-term daily average is 39 and the record is 10 set in 1962.

Clouds held afternoon highs in the 60s. Pine Prairie and Opelousas hit 68 while Anacoco and Winnfield reported 62. The long-term daily average is 59 and the record is 81 set in 1907.

Most locations reported rain, but amounts were modest. Thus far, DeRidder has received 0.33 and Ville Platte 0.25. More rain will fall during the night and will add to these totals. Peak amounts may exceed one inch.

A cold front will move through central Louisiana Saturday morning. The sky will clear by the afternoon as drier air once again moves into the area.
