The new week began wet for folks in central Louisiana this morning.
Morning low temps ranged through the 50s, except for 48 at Natchez, Miss. Simmesport was the warm spot with 56. The long-term daily average is 39 and the record is 9 set in 1918.
Afternoon highs climbed into the 60s and 70s as the sky cleared and allowed sunshine to warm the air. Natchez, Miss. was the lowest at 64 while Esler Airport hit 73. The long-term daily average is 59 and the record is 83 in 1907.
A general rain fell during the morning as a disturbance in the jetstream approached and helped a cold front move through the area. Most rainfall totals were less than one inch; however, Williana measured 1.50 inches and Otis/Hineston and DeRidder reported 1.25 inches.
Tuesday should be sunny with a steady breeze out of the west.
