APD: two men charged in connection to stolen vehicle

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Two Alexandria men have been charged in connection to a stolen vehicle.

 According to the Alexandria Police Department, On 01-14-2014, Alexandria Police arrested Jaylan A. Rye 19, and Martavis D. Thomas 21.

Alexandria Police were dispatched to a residence in the 3500 Block of Queens Court in reference to a burglary.

Upon officer's arrival, the complainant/victim reported someone broke into his residence and stole some electronic items, along with his 1992 Buick.

APD said that at 10:32 p.m. the same day, APD received a call that the comp/victim located his car and was following it. Officers located the vehicle, and following a short pursuit, arrested Rye and Thomas who were the occupants.

Both Rye and Thomas were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for Booking.

This incident is still under investigation and no other details are being released at this time.

Jaylan A Rye was charged with 1ct-Possession of Stolen Vehicle. Martavis D. Thomas was charged with 1ct-Possession of Stolen Vehicle, 1ct-Possession of Stolen Goods, 1ct-Failure to Maintain Control, and 1ct-No DL on Person.
