The wind blew again today in central Louisiana.
There was little wind early this morning when temperatures fell to freezing or below over the entire area. Jonesville reported a low of 26 degrees with Winnfield, Jena,Fullerton, and Natchez, Miss. at 27 degrees. Hagewood, Pine Prairie, and the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria all reported 32 degrees. The long-term daily average is 38 and the record is 17 in 1963.
Sunshine and the gusty west and southwest wind brought afternoon max temps back into the 60s. Esler Airport and Bellwood hit 68 degrees while Opelousas and Simmesport only made it up to 63 degrees. The long-term daily average is 59 and the record is 79 in 1935.
Another cold front will move through centrl Louisiana Thursday evening. Windy and cooler weather will be in Friday's forecast.
