DALTON, Ga., Jan. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tiarco Chemical announced today its membership to the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates, the leading international trade association representing the batch, custom and specialty chemical industry.

The Washington-based group supports chemical manufacturers with commercial and networking opportunities, advocates for the passage of rational laws and regulations, and works to increase public confidence in the industry.

"Tiarco Chemical has always had a commitment to being a good corporate citizen and member of the batch chemical manufacturing community, so joining SOCMA was a natural fit," said Kevin Nolan, Tiarco's Vice President and General Manager. "Our new membership in SOCMA will help us grow our business and keep up-to-date on the latest issues and best practices for the industry. This membership will benefit not only Tiarco Chemical, but also our customers and community."

"We are delighted to welcome Tiarco Chemical to the SOCMA family," said SOCMA President and CEO Lawrence D. Sloan. "Our team of Government Relations professionals is well-equipped to represent Tiarco's interests, both in Washington and locally, to assist them with their business expansion needs. SOCMA's ChemStewards® program will also help them achieve best-in-class environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) performance and strengthen their reputation as a good corporate citizen in their community."

Chuck Gavin, President of MFG Chemical in Dalton, GA, and a member of the SOCMA Board of Governors, is pleased to see Tiarco Chemical join SOCMA. "Tiarco is an excellent chemical manufacturer that I am sure will benefit from SOCMA's programs and services. It is also great to have another company in the neighborhood subscribing to ChemStewards," he said.

SOCMA is the only U.S.-based trade association dedicated solely to the batch, custom and specialty chemical industry and has a global membership of more than 220 companies. www.socma.com.
