Posted: Updated:

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Police were called to investigate a shooting at a residence on Camp Beauregard.

The Pineville Department received a call of a shooting victim at the front gate of Camp Beauregard around 8:30pm on Saturday evening, Jan. 18.

Upon the arrival of officers it was learned that the actual incident occurred at a residence on Camp Beauregard and that no military personnel were involved.

Investigators with the Pineville Police Department were able to ascertain that several young adults were at the residence and were "playing" with guns at the residence. Investigators say one person fired the gun accidentally and struck the victim in the upper chest.

The victim is in a local hospital in stable condition. 18-year-old Christian Aldecoa of Pineville was charged with one count of Negligent Injuring.

He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and later released on bond.

The Pineville Police Department encourages people to remember to treat all firearms as they are loaded. Also, firearms should be secured in a locked box or with gun locks to prevent accidental discharges.
