Monday night's cold front brought a chilly, dry wind to central Louisiana Tuesday.
Morning lows stayed in the 40s, except Winnfield with 39 degrees. Readings in the southern parishes reported lows in the upper 40s, including Ville Platte, Oberlin, Oakdale, Eunice and Opelousas. The 30-year daily average is 38 degrees and the record is 12 in 1985.
Despite full sunshine, afternoon highs stayed in the 50s, with the exception being Oakdale at 60 degrees. Natchez, Miss. only managed 52 and Winnfield 53. The long-term daily average is 59 and the record is 80 in 1982.
A strong northwesterly wind raked central Louisiana during the daylight hours. Gusts to 25-35 mph were reported over all of the area, including International Airport, Fort Polk, Esler Airport, Natchez, and Natchitoches.
Wednesday will be a nice day, but a strong cold front will sweep through central Louisiana Thursday morning.
