Snow day in Pineville

Posted: Updated:

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It was a snowy day in Central Louisiana, and some Pineville residents had mixed feelings about the snowy weather.

It is an unusual sight to see the ground covered in white here in Louisiana.

"I get to play and make snow angels in it."

Some Cenla residents were happy to see the snow.

"Oh it has been great, it's been wonderful. I love the snow and this has really been a treat because we hardly ever get to see it, it's just beautiful," said Jordan Wade.

And the kids were excited to see the snow.

"I jumped up in the air!" said Hailee Anderson.

Although for some this may seem like a winter wonderland, for many the snowy weather caused problems.

"We are Louisiana people. We are not made for this stuff. We don't know how to drive in this stuff. I mean look at that person over there trying to drive down the road, it is ridiculous," said Bobbie Anderson.

"If you have never driven this before and you don't know what to do. Like one of my friends had a wreck last night driving down the interstate he lost control and called me last night not knowing how to drive in the snow," said Anthony Connor.

Braving the icy roads could lead to injury or worse.

"I mean we are working crash after crash after crash. Just as many crashes that we are working we are responding to just as many or more vehicles off in the ditch, people running off the roadway," said Scott Moreau, from State Police Troop E.
