NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a  woman after she brought a loaded shotgun to a north Natchitoches Parish School on January 29.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, at approximately 8:20 a.m., the NPSO received a call from a concerned citizen reporting that a female may have been en route to the Fairview Alpha Elementary School Campus, north of Campti, La.

The concerned citizen reported that female had recently threatened bodily harm to a family member, and believed she was en route to the school campus to take her child from the school.

A NPSO School Resource Officer assigned to the school, and school staff were alerted of the possible situation.

At approximately 8:40am, Deputy Michael Longino, the assigned school resource officer made contact with the female as she arrived on campus.

Deputies observed that the female's behavior was unusual summoning additional units to the school campus.

NPSO Deputies along with Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents who are also members of the Natchitoches SWAT Unit responded to the school campus.

Deputies say while talking to the female, identified as Aftan Loe Creighton, she appeared upset, and agitated.  Deputies, also say that Creighton responded to them "that she had a shotgun in her truck and she would take care of anyone if they attempted to interfere with her getting her child".

Deputies then detained Creighton for the safety of the children, school staff, and officer's on the scene.

Deputies searched Creighton's vehicle, seizing a loaded Remington 12-gauge Pump Shotgun, and a box containing 13 shot shells placed easily accessible in the toolbox.

Aftan Loe Creighton, 30, of 100 block of Keith Road, of Coushatta, La. currently living in the Montgomery area, was arrested and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-count of Terrorizing.

Additional charges are pending.

Deputies say Creighton is awaiting a bond hearing in the Tenth Judicial District Court.

Sheriff Jones, stated this is just one of the reasons we have school resource officers placed in Natchitoches Parish Schools.   We intend to continue providing a safe environment for our children to learn a valuable education, and will not tolerate weapons, or threats on any of our school campuses.

Deputies believe this incident initiated from a recent marriage separation.

Deputies say no one was injured in the incident.
