NPSO: man arrested on felony drug charges

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Provencal man on felony drug charges according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday evening January 30th, at approximately 10:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the NPSO Criminal Patrol Unit were working on La. Hwy 117 near the Hagewood community, when they stopped a 1995 Nissan pickup truck for a traffic violation.

According to NPSO, during the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as Charles Travis Settle, 39 of Provencal.

Deputies learned that Many Police held two outstanding traffic-related bench warrants on Settle.

Deputies also discovered the MVI Sticker on the vehicle expired, and No Vehicle Compulsory Insurance.

During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies seized a cellophane bag containing approximately

4.1 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine with a potential street value of $400 dollars.

Settle was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Crystal Methamphetamine, 2-counts of Failure to Appear on traffic charges in Many, La., and traffic violations.

Settle remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.
