St. Landry deputies make arrest in forcible rape case

Posted: Updated:

ST. LANDRY, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- Eunice man arrested on charge of forcible rape.

According to a press release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's detectives have arrested Jeramie Brown, 35, of Eunice, La. on a forcible rape charge of a 14-year-old juvenile.

According to the St. Landry Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena, the alleged incident occurred while the juvenile was at Brown's residence during the month of December 2013.

According to Captain Vizena, investigators were able to obtain statements from other witnesses that were present at the time of the incident. Brown is being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with no bond at this time.

"Just as we teach children about the dangers associated with crossing the street or going near a hot oven, we must talk to them about how to keep their bodies safe. Encourage your children to tell you about things that happen to them that make them feel uncomfortable," Vizena said. "If children have an open line of communication, they will be more inclined to alert you to something suspicious before it becomes a problem."
