Arrest made in Ball shooting

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On February 6, 2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies from the Tioga Sub-station responded to a medical emergency in reference to a possible gunshot victim in the 200 block of Washboard Road in Ball. 

Upon arrival, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office reported contact was made with the victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. 

Deputies were attempting to render aid when the suspect, later identified as Hanlin Day Creekkiller, 27, of Pineville, returned to the residence. 

According to RPSO, deputies took Creekkiller into custody without incident. 

Acadian Ambulance arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. 

The victim remains in a local hospital in serious condition.

The complainant stated the victim had forced his way into his residence in an attempt to flee the suspect when the shooting occurred, RPSO said. 

Detectives and Crime Scene responded to conduct their investigation. 

Creekkiller was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked on 1 count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and 1 count Aggravated Burglary. 

Creekkiller remains in jail on a $500,000 bond.  The investigation is ongoing.
