Former Registrar of Voters arrested for stalking

St. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- On Feb. 6, 2014, the former Registrar of Voters, John A. Moreau was charged with stalking by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena stated, "A complaint was filed with our office by the victim stating that Moreau had been continuously placing letters at her residence.

Multiple letters had been discovered between the months of October 2013 and January 2014. The victim found the contents of the letters to be offensive, insulting and degrading. "

Vizena said, "During the investigation, Moreau did admit to detectives to typing the letters and personally placing them at the victim's residence."

Moreau was released from the St. Landry Parish Jail on a $5,000 bond, SLPS said.
