Funky Fleur de Lis is the dream come true of Louisiana native Jeanne Prestridge Rivers. It's a New Orleans inspired boutique loaded with gifts, jewelry, t-shirts, gourmet eats & drinks, art, home decor, accessories and so much more.
Jeanne and her husband Allen lived in Mandeville for 6 years starting in 1999 and there her absolute love for New Orleans, art and all things Louisiana grew. Mardi Gras, New Orleans Saints games, and sunny days spent in the Crescent City became a way of life. And...the obsession with all things fleur de lis began.
This little business was started in Mandeville in 1999 as a paint your own pottery studio and gift shop. Jeanne started her own line of hand painted pottery and soon was selling her line to over 200 retailers nation wide. Jeanne & Allen plus one moved back to Central Louisiana in 2005. The business continued as a wholesale pottery business only until 2008. Many requests by friends & family led to a small retail store in the front of the 4,000 square foot pottery production warehouse. The retail shop was met with much success!
A short time later the first retail shop was opened in Alexandria and Funky Fleur de Lis as you now know it was born! The crazy success quickly led to Jeanne having to make the tough decision to close the pottery business in order to give all square footage and full time efforts to the retail shop. Jeanne still keeps her creative juices flowing by painting canvases and personalizing many items sold in the shop.
Now with 3 children, the Rivers' clan with help of many friends, family members and a fantastic staff moved Funky Fleur de Lis from a 2200 square foot space to a beautiful 3600 square foot space in January 2012! As of July 2013, you can now shop at Funky Fleur de Lis #2 in Bossier City, LA!
You will likely see Jeanne's mom, Betty when you visit the store as she has become a permanent fixture in the shop! Jeanne credits much of her success to the never waivering support of her family. "They have always believed in me. It has been a long, difficult, exhausting and most rewarding ride. I wouldn't change a thing!"
