Citizen-Police Partnership Nets Burglars

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Officers responded to a report by a neighbor of a suspicious person in the West Point Subdivision at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday Morning, according to Alexandria Police Department.

Uniform Patrol Officers and members of the Burglary Patrol Unit responded and located the suspects.

After a significant foot chase, officers were able to apprehend both suspects and recovered evidence relating to numerous burglaries in the area, APD said.

APD reported detectives were able to connect Calvin Cheney, 34, of Alexandria, and Leon Randle, 29, of Pineville, to numerous burglaries in West Alexandria over recent months.

Cheney was charged with twelve counts of Simple Burglary, one count Resisting Arrest, and one count Contempt of Court.

Randle was charged with twelve counts of Simple Burglary and one count of Resisting Arrest.

APD reported Cheney and Randle are repeat offenders.

Calvin Cheney has been booked into Rapides Parish Jail 38 times.

Leon Randle has been booked into the Rapides Parish Jail 14 times.
