Ex-paramedic found guilty in traffic death of two

Posted: Updated:
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A former paramedic whose car crossed into oncoming traffic and killed a Central Texas couple has been found guilty of intoxication manslaughter.

A Travis County jury found 42-year-old Terri Elmore guilty of two counts Monday. Her car crossed into oncoming traffic in November 2011 and struck a vehicle carrying Ernest and Barbara Boyett, killing them.

Prosecutors say her blood-alcohol level was .20, well above the legal limit of .08.

The punishment phase of her trial began later Monday and Elmore faces two to 20 years in prison on each count.

Elmore testified during the trial that she has no memory of the day of the wreck, which left her seriously injured. She told the jury she suffered from fainting spells.
