CLEDA discusses bringing international business to Louisiana

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Attracting international business was the topic of the Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance's quarterly meeting Monday.

Jim Voorhorst with Louisiana Economic Development spoke about the state's effort to create jobs through international trade. Industries like oil and gas and automobile manufacturing are a few of the top targets. Voorhorst says each region of the state has its own unique qualities to offer when trying to attract international trade.

"I think every region of the state needs to kind of take an assessment of its strengths and weaknesses vis-a-vis its position in global trade," said Voorhurst. "Then modify and develop its programs around the regional strengths here."

Voorhorst recently traveled with Governor Bobby Jindal to Asia in an attempt to help attract business to Louisiana.
