ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Consumers have tabbed Rapides Regional Medical Center as the best in the Alexandria market, according to the National Research Corporation.

The NRC Market Insights data is the largest consumer survey on healthcare in the United States.

Consumers in the Alexandria market ranked RRMC at the top of the list based on four consumer metrics:

  • Best Overall Quality
  • Best Image/Reputation
  • Best Doctors
  • Best Nurses.

The 2013-14 Consumer Choice Award was announced recently in Modern Healthcare Magazine.

"Once again, we're honored to receive an award that recognizes the high levels of quality healthcare provided here at Rapides Regional Medical Center," said Jason Cobb, Rapides Regional Medical Center's chief executive officer.

"The Consumer Choice Award, however, also takes into account our doctors, our nurses, our reputation and our image. We are proud to be considered the best consumer choice among Central Louisiana hospitals. It's an award we are happy to live up to."

The winners are selected from the nation's most comprehensive, nationwide consumer health care profile, the National Research Corporation Healthcare Market Guide.

Its data represents consumer surveys from more than 270,000 households in the U.S. Consumer Choice Awards for hospitals are based on consumer preference responses. Since 1996, National Research has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing quality healthcare services.

The Consumer Choice Award recognized 277 hospitals across the country as having the highest quality and image, including five in Louisiana.

Previously, Rapides Regional Medical Center was honored by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top three hospitals in Louisiana.
