ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Registration is underway for the Second Annual Foodapalooza, an event that celebrates Central Louisiana food and food producers.

The event will feature a wide range of presenters and workshop leaders, including representatives from the Indian Springs Farmers Association, Market Umbrella and the Department of Sustainability for the city of Temple, Texas.

The daylong event is free of charge and geared toward anyone with an interest in increasing the availability of fresh local foods in Cenla.

"If every person in Central Louisiana just spent five dollars on local foods, then the region itself would receive $91 million in return.  So, we're talking about serious economic benefits in purchasing local foods," said John Dean, the regional food systems planner for CLEDA.
