Power almost completely restored

Posted: Updated:

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Cleco is nearing the end of its restoration to residences that can take power after an ice storm caused 31,000 of its customers to lose power.

The company will restore power to camps and a few remaining customers on February 15th and to homes that sustained damage from the storm when it is safe.

The ice storm is the fourth winter event to hit Central Louisiana within a month.

The first three storms caused limited outages as snow and sleet did not adhere to surfaces but accumulated on the ground.

The storm the week of February 9th brought freezing rain that covered trees and tree limbs that fell into Cleco's electric system.

Cleco would like to remind customers to be cautious of downed power lines. Stay away, and call 911 or Cleco at 1-800-622-6537 to report a dangerous situation with electricity.
