Julius Patrick Elementary hosts Black History program

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Julius Patrick Elementary held its Black History program on February 14.

This year's theme was "believe, achieve, and succeed."

The program also honored African-American pioneers who serve and protect the community in law enforcement and the legal field.

Throughout the event, the program stuck to the theme of believing, achieving and succeeding.

"They should be taught here at school to believe in themselves.  If they keep hearing believe in yourself, believe in yourself, succeed, they will be able to accomplish something in life and that is very important.  I think the kids are our future so we need to start in the elementary teaching them how to succeed in life and we should always believe in them," said Stephanie Ford, the program coordinator.
