Alexandria Mardi Gras Association events

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Mardi Gras festivities in Alexandria begin on February 28, 2014. Here's a list of the events.

  • LSUA Mardi Gras Parade
    Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 12:00pm
    The parade will run down all of the main streets on campus

  • Friday, February 28, 2014 (4:30 p.m.)
    Hixson Autoplex College Cheerleaders & Classic Cars Parade
    Route: Downtown Alexandria -
    Murray - 5th - Jackson - 4th - 3rd to St. James St.

  • Friday, February 28, 2014
    Taste of Mardi Gras
    Riverfront Convention Center
    VIP seating at 6 p.m.
    General Admission at 7 p.m.

    Tickets go on sale (TBA), and can be purchased in advance at $20 for adults and $10 for children 10 years and younger. They can be purchased at the following locations in Alexandria:
    - Atwood's Bakery
    - Critics Choice (both locations)
    - Alexandria Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau 
    You can also call 442-9546 or 729-6045 for tickets.
    Reserved VIP Tables are also available in advance for $400, which includes reserved seating for eight, a complimentary bottle of champagne and early admittance at 6 p.m. and can be purchased at the Alexandria/Pineville Area CVB.

    AMGA Eighteenth Annual Children's Parade
    Route: Downtown Alexandria -
    Murray - 5th - Jackson - 4th - 3rd to St. James St.

  • Saturday, March 1, 2014 (2 p.m.)
    King Cake Party
    Location: Alexandria Zoo (3016 Masonic Drive)
    Admission: Regular Zoo Admission
    Celebrate Mardi Gras at the Alexandria Zoo following the Children's Parade! Enjoy king cake, music, costumed characters, and don't miss the up-close encounters with Zoo animals. The Alexandria Animal Shelter will be on hand with dogs available for adoption.

  • Sunday, March 2, 2014 (2 p.m.)
    AMGA 21st Annual Krewes Parade
    Parade Route: Texas Ave. - Masonic - Memorial -
    North Boulevard - Alexandria Mall
  • Sunday, March 2, 2014 (11 a.m. until parade arrives)
    Alcohol/Tobacco Free Zone
    Venue: City of Alexandria Dixie Ball field Complex/Corner of Texas and Masonic
    Enter from Parking Lot across from Bringhurst Field.
