BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – The Mardi Gras Cluster Dog Show will remain in Alexandria for the next two years.

The announcement from the Baton Rouge Kennel Club and the Alexandria Kennel Clubs follows one of its most successful shows ever with a record number of entries over the four day period.

The clubs have signed a contract with the Alexandria Riverfront Center keeping the show in its present location through 2016.

The show dates are Thursday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 25th, 2015 and Thursday, January 28th through Sunday, January 31st,  2016.

"We're very happy to keep the show in the town that has welcomed us with open arms," said Holly Reed, president of the Baton Rouge Kennel Club.  "We have to thank both Mayor Jacques Roy and the City of Alexandria for allowing us to have the show in this wonderful facility, and we look forward to another successful year."

According to officials at the Alexandria/Pineville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 2013 show was estimated to have brought in approximately $200,000 into the local economy and hotel occupancy was almost 97% full.
